Private Flood Insurance Explained
How is private flood insurance different from flood insurance offered through NFIP?
Private flood insurance provides higher and broader coverage options than those available through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP is a government-backed program through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is limited in the amount of coverage it can offer. For example, an NFIP policy does not provide optional coverages like Temporary Living Expenses or Pool Repair and Refill.
What coverage limits are available with private flood insurance?
Our carriers offer building coverage up to $4,000,000 on residential, $4,000,000 on commercial, $10,000,000 on apartments, and $15,000,000 on RCBAP. Contents coverage up to $500,000 on residential, $1,000,000 on commercial, and $500,000 on RCBAP.
Is the waiting period with private flood insurance carriers the same as NFIP?
No. Our private flood carriers provide a reduced waiting period of only 10 days, compared to 30 days under the NFIP.
